The Arts and Letters Club of Toronto
Although I have been a member of the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto since 2007, it has been a long time since my last presentation there. So, I was pleased to be invited back by the club's literary committee, to speak at the Literary Table Lunch on March 4th. I'll be talking about new book, of course, and I'll expand on some of the subjects mentioned in my Arts Exposed presentation too - See below.

The Third Annual Arts Exposed Conference 2013
Friday Oct 4th – Saturday Oct 5th

Having attended last year's conference as a guest, I was thrilled to be invited to speak at this years event. Thom Ernst, recently of Saturday Night at the Movies on TVO, mediated much of Saturday's proceedings. Here, Suzanne Smoke, Aboriginal Cultural Coordinator / curator at Georgina Arts Center and Gallery, speaks movingly on various related topics. Devon Ostrom ( in green) Co-Founder of the Beatiful City Campain, spoke about his program's inititives. In my own talk, which took an overview of art and social activism, touched on the work of John Ruskin, specifically, On Art and Life (1886), which, though written at the time of the Industrial Revolution, addresses many of the issues we confront today. |
