Beijing to Shanghai

October 2013: A whistle-stop tour of the world's most dynamic economy. It is hard to comprehend a country of this scale. China is a massive land mass, with one hundred cities of populations more than five million though, the congestion and pace of life (between Bejing and Shanghai) takes some adjusting to – particularly having just returned from Alaska and the Yukon, two of the least populated places in the world. The following is a cross-section of modern China; a small selection of images from the world's most hard-driving economy, the old and the new – two very different realities.
